    It’s time once again for an Open House. Kids of all ages delight in watching trains from different eras make their way around the 1,600 square foot, full-basement-sized layout. This year, we’re expanding the open house to two days, Saturday, July 25th, from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday, July 16th, from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm.

    Join us in welcoming the newest addition to the Fungus & Mungus Railroad. Spicy the Bold, pictured, has completed her 6-month probationary period and is now a full-time member of the staff. Six months ago, she showed up at the FMRR office looking for work. She has been assigned to the personnel department, where her duties will include making rounds of the other staff members to ensure they are wide awake and fully engaged in their assigned tasks. No sleeping on the job while she is on duty. Each of our executive staff members has distinct responsibilities. Lavender the Clueless…

    We did it! Yesterday, we reached another milestone in the construction of the Fungus & Mungus HO Scale model railroad. The last of the mountains, hills, and valleys have been constructed and had their base coats of paint applied. We now switch from construction/building to the artistic part of layout building. So, here’s where we stand: The layout is 100% operational, but barren… devoid of the details that will bring it to life. Up till now, it’s all been carpentry, electrical, electronics, sculpting, and painting. All of it is craftsman-type work. With the start of Phase Five, it becomes artistic.…

    It’s time for the annual tunnel inspection. We’re required to inspect the openings, portals, and bracing for all of the tunnels along the Fungus and Mungus Railroad right-of-way. Shown here is Grigio the Gray, Director of Quality Control, inspecting tunnel portal #5 at the south end of the FMRR mainline. According to Director Gray, everything is in order and in tip-top shape.
